Closed Rhinoplasty
This closed technique is a regular rhinoplasty approach. Surgical incisions are positioned inside the nostrils, in which silicones will be inserted through the nostrils, from the bridge to the nasal tip. An extensive silicone is not recommended due to the risk of silicone extrusion.
Advantages
- Internal incision requires less surgical time
- Easy post-surgery care
Disadvantages
- Higher risk of bent or curved nose than external rhinoplasty
- Cannot increase the height of the nasal bridge and tip as much as external rhinoplasty
4 Reasons for Undergoing Rhinoplasty
Wide Nose: the nasal wings are wide and expand outwards, and the nostrils are larger than the standard
Curved Nose: the nasal bridge is bent to one side, causing the shape of the nose to be deformed
Flat Nose: the nose is flatter than usual, which results in a lack of facial dimension
Humped Nose: the presence of nasal hump on the bridge, similar to the hump of camels

Preparation before Undergoing Rhinoplasty at F Clinic
- No smoking and alcohol intake at least 1 week prior to the surgery
- No intake of painkillers and NSAIDs prior to the surgery, such as aspirin and ibuprofen, in order to reduce the appearance of bruises from blood congestion after the surgery
- No intake of vitamins, fish liver oil, and all types of food supplements, since these supplements will impede blood coagulation, which makes it more difficult for the surgeon to perform the surgery, resulting in swelling and bruises after the surgery
- No intake of unwholesome food, such as preserved food and soft drinks, as well as seafood at least 1 week prior to the surgery
- Perform a detailed health checkup prior to the surgery. In case of chronic diseases, immunodeficiency, and other diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and diabetes, consult with the surgeon before undergoing the surgery to minimize the risks after the surgery, such as higher risk of infection than normal people
Preparation on the Day of Surgery
- No eating or drinking at least 8 hours prior to the surgery, in the case of anesthetic inhalation
- Eat light food 4-6 hours before the surgery in the case of anesthetic injection
- No makeup; wash and clean the face and nose thoroughly

10 Post-Rhinoplasty Restrictions
- Avoid contact with the wound. Do not touch, pick, or hit the nose to ensure fastest recovery

- Apply a cold compression for 3 consecutive days. After that, apply a warm compression to improve blood flow
- No smoking and drinking all types of alcohol
- Take all medications as prescribed by the physician
- No makeup
- No intake of preserved food, since this type of food will slow down the healing process 8
- Avoid any exercises that have high risk of collision
- Avoid being in the area with a lot of dust and pollution that are the main causes of airborne allergy, including coughing, sneezing, and nose blowing
- No engagement in beauty-related activities, such as acne removal, facial treatment, laser treatment, facial massage, or the use of tools on the face or near the nasal area, while the wound is not completely healed. These activities may cause inflammation and danger to yourself.
